Emergency call (eCall)

Overview

Emergency call (eCall) systems allow passengers to alert emergency services of a crash through a manual trigger or automatic crash instantiation. They are becoming more and more common for automotive manufacturers to meet legislative measures and improve customer peace-of-mind. Our integrated circuits, reference designs and products enable you to design eCall systems that not only meet the basic legislative requirements but are cost effective, increasingly integrated and exceedingly reliable.

We provide innovative reference designs and complementary ICs for eCall systems that allow streamlining the design cycle and reducing time-to-market.

Design requirements

The benefits of eCall include:

  • Meeting regional legislative standards for systems to support emergency calling through a global system or mobile (GSM) module.
  • Backup batteries to provide flexible and reliable power upon disconnection from the main car battery.
  • Powerful audio solutions to support clear communication in the event of a crash.
